Welcome to the ENSURE-WB Project website!
Starting a career presents young teachers with numerous professional, organizational, and emotional challenges. Especially during the first few years of their careers, heavy workloads, time pressure, and dealing with complex classroom situations are common causes of stress and mental strain. At the same time, personal and professional resources, such as self-efficacy, social support, and resilience, form an important foundation for teachers’ well-being and their ability to remain in the profession successfully.
The ENSURE_WB (ENhancing and SUpporting REsources for Well-Being) research project investigates how the well-being of young teachers just starting their careers, known as Early Career Teachers (ECTs), can be sustainably promoted and how psychological strain can be reduced. To this end, an adaptive, app-based intervention is being developed that assesses individual stressors and resources and provides tailored support services.
The goal of this longitudinal intervention study is to determine how using the app affects the well-being, mental health, and professional resources of ECTs. In addition, the study investigates the extent to which changes in teachers’ well-being also extend to their teaching, the teacher-student relationship, and students’ well-being.
