Fostering Resilience in Teacher Education (FoResT)

Welcome to the FoResT Project website!

To navigate the dynamic modern education system, teachers need not only subject-specific competencies but also cross-disciplinary skills, including important socio-emotional abilities such as resilience. Resilience can be understood as a crucial skill for adaptability in the teaching profession.

Resilient teachers are better equipped to cope with adverse situations and adapt to change. They are also less likely to leave the profession. Although the importance of teacher resilience is widely acknowledged, there is little knowledge about effective strategies to foster this skill. The learning platform serves as the basis for an intervention study that empirically investigates the development dynamics of socio-emotional competencies—focusing on resilience—among prospective primary school teachers at PHBern.
